David Crystal works from his home in Holyhead in North Wales in the UK as a writer, lecturer, and broadcaster, and is an honorary professor of linguistics at the nearby University of Bangor. He has published over a hundred books on the English language and linguistics, including several on children’s language, and has also written poetry, plays, and short stories, as well as information books and reading materials for primary school-aged children.

He is married to children’s author Hilary Crystal, and has four children, five grandchildren, and (at the last count) seventeen grand-dogs. When he’s not writing, he spends a lot of time working on Shakespeare for the website he created with his son, theatre actor and producer Ben Crystal: www.shakespeareswords.com.
